Effect of Brassicaceae Waste Application on Soil Nematode Community

چکیده
Brassicaceae are known to contain compounds that biofumigants. This study aimed determine the effect of waste application on soil nematode community. Broccoli leaves and stems (Brassica oleracea var. italic), cabbage (B. capitate), kailan alboglabra), radish (Raphanus sativus), kamanilan weed (Rorippa indica) were tested in this study. The total glucosinolate content was estimated using palladium method with a modified spectrophotometer. experiment carried out polybags containing 500 grams soil-infested nematodes. (15 grams/polybag) chopped mixed into soil, watered, tightly closed for 14 days. arranged completely randomized design nine treatments five replications. results analysis showed broccoli, radish, fall high category (144.7-185.2 µmol/g); leaves, stems, medium (52.0-56.0 broccoli low (35.4 µmol/g). There no correlation between contents their suppressing communities at applied effluent dose. population bacterivorous nematodes increased each treatment, especially leaf treatment (R. which reached 13,008 individuals. These indicate has good potential improve health. against diversity index, an uneven evenness dominance index.

The ever increasing pile-up of electronic waste in dumping sites, especially in developing countries such as China, Pakistan, India and several African countries, might have caused a significant alteration in the microbial community of the contaminated sites. This change in the microbial population may have significant impact to the soil ecology function. The major pollutants of electronic wast...

متن کاملNematode community structure in a vineyard soil.
Distribution of the nematode community in a California vineyard was studied over a 13-month period. Omnivorous and microbivorous nematodes were similarly distributed in the root zone, with greatest densities occurring between vine rows and near the soil surface. Greatest densities of plant-parasitic nematodes were found in the vine row, with the individual species differing in their vertical di...
